Ok...here's what happened...

I was driving down the ilocal interstate next to another car...and i decided that I wanted to pass him to get in front of him...so I down shifted to third and got to about 85mph...but when I went to shift to 4th I missed and went to second...needless to say I bent 3 out of 4 of my exhaust valves...the head has already been rebuilt but i need help with reinstalling the timing chain.

When my father and I removed the timing chain the tensioner slowly slid out of its housing...but we cant get it back into its place. Can someone who knows about this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me some instructions on how to re-install the timing chain...and how to set the timing properly.

Any help will be soooooo much appreciated...thanks.

Please explain a little more the part about "the chain slowly slid out of it's housing." Are you having trouble getting the chain back into the housing? What have you tried so far and can you see everything to get in there and work on it easily? Do you have a repair manual showing the timing chain assembly?.

the chain didnt slid out of its housing...the tensioner slid out of the housing...then the chain was removed it started to slowly slide out and when it stopped we could not push it back in...the chain itself is still in the housing but we i dont know if i will be able to get it back on properly...we will be re-installing the head tomorrow and i dont know what to do.

also...how do i set the timing properly?...i dont have a manual for the car (cant find one)...how do i know the rotor it directly lined up with the number one piston?...any help would be greatly appreciated.
