Hey! My enginge is starting to click-et ti-clank a lot louder. I t sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine. I think I read a tread on hear that there are two timing chain guides that you can remove to get rid of the noise? Please advise.

In all honesty, you really need those guides. You can't just remove them. It's a lil more involved than just removing the valve cover. Sorry SeanC (BTW Sean, do you go to SVC?) You have to take off the timing cover. AKA front cover. there are two screws holding the driver-side guide on and one for the pass side guide. Before you take the guides off you will want to "lock" the tensioner with a thumb tack or something. Just push in the piston on the tensioner and insert the tack into the hole on the side to hold the piston in. Just make sure the driver side guide is in one peice. They have a tendancy to crumble into little tiny peices and fall into the oil pan. Look at the inside of the front cover to check for chain wear. If the guide had brocken, the fron cover will show signs of the chain rubbing.

i already said you have to remove the front cover. and you are supposed to remove the upper timing guide on top of the chain. and the one on the driver side of the engine. the only thing on the upper chain on the passenger side is the tensioner. which you NEED.

actually nissan released a TSB stating that both upper guides are not needed. i bought by car with 140000 miles, i removed both when i got home, now i am at 153000 and twice the horsepower and my car still runs the timing chain is still tight and it does no rattle.
