Hey guys. new to the forum. Just got a 91 240, and it has a rattle in the front top-end of the engine. Ive been told its the timing chain guides, but that was from 2 people. Is this a common problem? Also, i got a price on a kit that has everything, gears, chain, guides, for like $270, you guys know of any kits for sale or what i need to do, also how hard is it, do i need a special pulley puller or anything? Im very good with auto stuff, dont worry, just need some advice. Thanks.

um... nothing that complicated. The guide they're talking about is the one that sits above (probably on at this point) the upper timing chain. Just take off the valve cover and you'll see it sitting there. Remove it from the car. Problem solved.

i heard that you need to check and see whats worn, cause it rattles alittle more now, check chain, gears, stuff like that, and get the tensioner...
