The stress was lower on the V8 so they assummed it would last till +100k vs around 25-40k on the I4.
It would have cost $25,000,000 vs the less than $6 million it cost to repair and replace engines that failed in warranty and the secret 7year/100k original owner extension.
After the 91Q transmission disaster where essentially all 15,000 trannys got changed fot $20 millionand the ac problems.......Infinti warranty cost were thru the roof.............they hoped to ride it out after all the average new buyer in that segement only keep the car 3 years.
Has they priced the car higher to begin with they would have had more cushion.....the $50k 94 Q was an attempt to make some money back.
