okay,

I had the same problem. My timing chain GUIDES made a lot of Noise.

Here are the two guides you should remove: (I DID!)TOP and RIGHT of the Small -Upper Chain,

since you removed the chain don't it cause for free play to the chain and cause the vehicle to be out of time? or it does not harm in removing it.. and i was told that you have to replace the tenser bolt on the right guide everytime you take it out

Well,

I took out the TOP and Right Guide. My car runs Very good. There are absolutely NO noises, no clankings, nothing.

When I drive hard, I can hear that Nice sound from the Chain contacting the tensioners. That Whirling chain sounds like a turbine.

I've not replace my Tensioners yet. They are still good.

And Yes, When you buy those $100-150 dollar Timing chain complete kits, It comes with the BOLTS. Make sure you buy the kits from a reputable store and IT MUST BE MADE IN JAPAN!

I am in Los Angeles, and I bought a complete KIT for $150. It is. Not Nissan but Its Genuine MADE in Japan. Avoid EBAY's kits that are $50-90 bucks. "you get what you pay for"

P.S. MY timing is Still at 18-20 BTDC like manufacturing tolerance states.

I love my 240sx. She still needs:

1. New SPeed sensor2. New Racing Seats3. Aluminum Bushings

I can't wait.
