In a previous post, I asked what this noise was that sounded similar to a spraypaint can shaking under my hood. I got 2 or 3 posts that said it was the timing chain cover(?) and that I could safely remove it and end the noise. How should I go about doing this? Links or instructions would be awesome. Thanks guys.

you can remove the t-cover for inspection but you have to put it back on. you should start by removing the valve cover to look for messed up stuff. it is on the top and has bolts around the perimeter.

I have had that sound, but only once. It was on a very cold morning, and I haven't heard it again since the weather has gotten slightly warmer lately. I have read that you can remove the top chain guide for good (am I right?).

at least take the valve cover off to see if you can see the guide or anything else cracked or broken... and take it from there.
