Anybody know if timing chain can be changed on 2002 2.5s Altima without taking off upper oil pan? If you have been there and done it youorself you know what im talking about and why im asking. Looks like maybe bolts from under bottom oil pan may thread into cover? Can i get cover pulled out away from upper oil pan and around crank?

I highly doubt the oil pan bolts thread into the cover. Typically the timing chain cover is a kind of u-shape where the fasteners for it are horizontal. No real sense in securing it vertically.

Even if they did thread into the cover, you could probably just remove the 3-5 bolts that were in the cover and not drop the oil pan away from its seal at all.
