Hello again, I have to do a headgasket on a 3.0 motor, so I pulled the motor out. A friend of mine has nothing to do all day, so I asked him if he wanted to start pulling useless stuff off the motor, such as timing chain cover, and valve covers. Well it slipped my mind to tell him about the two bolts in the bottom of the timing chain cover, so you can imagine what happened from there.

My question is, would it be acceptable to just JB weld it back together? It's not load bearing, but it does have to hold in oil (obviously). I have used JB weld religiously before, in areas where strength was important (power steering brackets on SBC 350 motors, etc) and have never had a problem, but never when it was going to be constantly exposed to oil. If JB weld is not acceptable, where could I find a replacement timing cover other than the junkyard? Thanks for all the help so far

I'm not sure how the jb weld would hold up. I just know that I personally would put a new cover on just so I wouldn't have to do it a second time if something did happen.

I believe either a junk yard or dealer for the cover.
