When my car is @ idle it sounds like a bunch of midgets playing with marbles, as soon as it gets the slightest bit of gas it stops, then when it drops back down to idle its clanging again

Could the timing chain be loose and then when it gets gas its tightning up?

umm Is your car at the dealer right now?...Oddly I am working on one today that looks exactly like yours[same wheels, color and all]Migets playing with marbles huh? I even asked my wife if she knew what that might sound like and ..wellll she started laughing to hard to answer... but I do know the chain guide sounds like it is rubbing in the one I got and I guess in some warped out there way it could sound like migets with marbles....lol

Is it your car I am working on fuzion?

hehe n0pe! Car hasn't seen been in a Nissan shop for a year or two..

It definately sounds like metal against metal.. I thought the power steering pump was shot, replaced it.. it wasn't the noise problem, but the bearings in it were shot anyways so it wasn't a waste :) [phew]

How to describe the noise.. hrmphhhh

Maybe if you get some loose change and shake it in your hands? Just sounds like loose metal running across metal

When I had the front cover off there were slight slash marks from the chain hitting the head/block, but didn't look too bad. I figured since it was a chain there wasn't anything to replace.. [I don't deny my stupidity, I just choose not to mention it most of the time]

Maybe one of the tensioners is shot and the chain has slack so its slapping around..

AH!! THATS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE

Like its slapping something.. I guess.. um.. maybe I can record ito_O

umm I dont know where that came from...lol but the plats are like 8.25 a piece[worth it] the standards are much cheaper.

Get your valve cover off and see if the upper guide broke off and is just laying on your chain between the cams. if thats not it, it might very well be one of the lower guides broke and the chain is slapping the timing cover. you have to address this if it is the chain hitting the cover since it can eat through the timing cover into the water jacket.
