timing belt tensioner

do you have to change it when you do the belt ?? or can u get by with leaving it

I didn't replace mine as it spun silently.
You wont know the condition of it till you dig in there ! :gapteeth:

There may be other factors to consider in addition to the condition of the sealed bearings.

Timing Belt Hydraulic TensionerThe timing belt hydraulic tensioner maintains the appropriate tension of the timing belt. It uses pressurized engine oil to provide continual pressure on the tensioner pulley’s tension lever.

The hydraulic tensioner utilizes a ratchet mechanism, which locks the tensioner in a stationary position when the engine is not operating. This mechanism is unlocked as soon as the engine is operating and again providing oil pressure.
