if i buy a new tensioner, would i have to redo the timing belt?

You wouldn't HAVE to, but why not? It's only about $20 and you are right there anyway.

no no,i mean would i have to re align everything to tdc, align the marks to the cam marks, etc?

As long as you keep a little tension on the belt to prevent it from moving off the cam gears/crank sprocket.

Take two vice grips and clamp both timing gears with the belt together to keep the cam pulleys on time.
