In have been pulling it apart got back to the timing belt and there's oil every where under the timing belt housing. Any ideas and is there anything on you tube

I would post in the Z forum, but I'll bet you have bent valves. The oil is probably from leaking cam seals.

Moved.

The VG30 is a low tolerance interference engine. That means if something is off by even the slightest little bit, you're smacking valves on pistons. Float's probably right about the cam seals leaking. What are your plans for this? You're already looking at a pretty good chunk of change if the valve is damaged.

+1 on cam seals leaking. If they're leaking, the cam gears fling the oil all over while they're turning.

I'm guessing it doesn't start? 80 km/h = 50ish mph so yeah you probably have some bent valves at the very least, hopefully no damaged pistons.

I have not tried to start it old mate said it still starts but didn't want to just in case it makes it worse. Yeah the oil probable would be coming from those cams. I don't really know a grate deal about these cars I'm just pulling it a part trying to learn. Was going to replace the engine. What do you recon is easer

Oh definitely a rebuild is more work, but way more reliable, by a factor of like 500. First thing you need to do is pull the heads to see if the valves were damaged at all. If you're that far in, might as well do piston rings. What's the mileage?

Cool. Not very high miles at all. I'd rebuild. No doubt about it. Just a basic one. No need to swap pistons unless you wanna overbore and go full balls-to-the-wall build. Def get the rings while you're torn that far down though.

I probably should've done rings on mine while I had the heads off... mine was right at 98k miles but I didn't think it would need it at the time.

To do the pistons I would have to pull the block out right

You have to pull this motor just to change the oil :rotfl

Just kidding. But seriously, yes, pull the motor. As Ace said, you probably won't have to worry about new pistons, etc. But if you just bought it, then pull it so you can inspect everything correctly. Have your local machine shop check the bore, pressure test the heads, inspect the crank, and obviously change the valve seals when you swap the bent valves. If you do not know a lot about this, then let the machine shop take care of the tricky stuff. Let them install the new rings so they can set the gaps correctly, and let them test/resurface the heads and rebuild them.

Since you got it for only $500, you have a good bit of breathing room on the car. Get this stuff done at the beginning so you can enjoy the car rather than pulling it apart 3 times a year.
