Make sure every connector you pulled to get to the pump is connected properly.Changing just the water pump shouldn't cause a timing issue.Unless a case of beer was involved.

how long did it take you to do the water pump? I think mine is leaking too, only leaks when the car is turned off though it seems.

Make sure its not one of the two short hoses in front of the pump.Thought my pump was leaking too and it was a pinhole right by the rear clamp.Pressure builds when you shut off a warm engine.

are you referring to the radiator hoses? Those are the only 2 coolant hoses I see in the front.

a picture with an arrow or circle is worth a thousand words...lol...when we did my timing belt u need to make sure all the marks on all the gears match up with the ones on the belt...if im not mistaken theres maybe 4 or 5...after that use a digital timing light to check the timing...i dont remember what it should be exactly but i think its something like 15 degrees advanced on the CAS...hope that helps...and chillin014 i think my little green was referring to the coolant bypass hoses

hmmm okay, I will check the FSM for that coolant bypass hoes. I dont see anything coolant related around the path of travel of the leak, but I know how these things are. I figured a 30 dollar water pump wouldn't be a bad preventative maintenance item anyway.

I'm in the process of changing the water pump this weekend. I'm not in a huge rush but damn I've had to take apart so much more than I expected. All the drivebelts, timing covers, pulley, radiator, etc.

It looks like I'm going to have to buy some extended allen wrench to remove the coolant logs and get the left timing cover off.

My only question is if you guys are just using the gasket or using silicone sealant for the water pump. I got a gasket with the pump but the FSM says to use sealant. I think I'm going to go with the gasket, I hate messing with sealant.

thanks. what about for the thermostat? I read about people using sealant on the thermostat edge itself. I've never heard of this..ever.

yeah i think i'll use the sealant around the t-stat since thats how it was when i took it apart. I'll go buy a gasket for the housing itself though rather than use the sealant.

I noticed the OEM water pump had grooves for sealant but my aftermarket one was just a flat surface, makes sense.

Also, I only removed the lower coolant log. Of course I didnt remove the left timing belt cover and had to weasel out the lower timing cover because of it...but it saved me more water mess.
