Going to try and do my belt replacement this weekend. Bought belt , tensioner and upper and lower pullies at the dealer.
Looks pretty stright forward , I am concerned about setting the tention correctly .
I have talked to a couple of dealer mechanics about using a push pull gauge as it states in the manual , they say it should be done that way , but they just know the proper tension from touch ?
My J had the belt changed at 65,000 , by previous owner , I just bought it and it has 103,000 . There is a slapping noise in the timing belt cover area , Infinity dealer mechanic said something in that area. I am opting not to do the water pump since it was done a 65,000 ( your thoughts )
How have any of you that have done this them self set the tention on the belt ?
Do you think I will need to replace the upper and lower right pulies , is there a way to see their correct condition ?
