I was at a red light, sitting in neutral and right before I was about to go it sounded like the engine started to rev a little bit.

Acceleration didnt seem any different but I got to the next red light, and I was idling at 1500rpm.

Drove home 65-70 on the highway, acceleration and cruise didnt seem different than normal drive this road everyday, got to the stop before my turn and I was idling at 1000

Got home turned the car off for a few seconds started it and it idled at 1000 again before dropping to about ~800 and stayed

did my timing belt slip and the ECU adjust it? any ideas?

timing belt can't slip, it can jump, but something has to shock it, like a pulley stopping completely, or an idler pulley breaking off.

Could be your TPS, MAF or coolant temp sensor.

Nah, thankfully man I can assure you that wasn't a timing belt problem. You have one of the 2 million idle problems the Z is cursed with..search it up man there is a ton of information on this type of thing

yeah thankfully its not the timing belt.. and update, the idle has stayed at a reasonably normal speed, without me doing anything

ive been meaning to clean all my connections but havent got to it, checked the TPS grey connector after BTG mentioned that, and it looks like theres dirt in there gonna clean it today.

Cleaned my MAF give or take 2months ago and one side of the clip is broken on the connector
it stays on the MAF as far as ive been able to tell, maybe the one side makes it loose enough sometimes stop the MAF?
