can somebody please give me a link to an oem timing belt kit? i'd prefer genuine nissan if possible, but most of the links i check don't have belts for a 1.8. i used a napa (victor rienz?) part the last time about 8000 miles ago and it's a squeekin' now. so, i figure nissan parts are for the nissan cars so they works the bestest. thanks, fellas and ladies.

oh yeah...

Nissan stopped production on CA OEM parts. But Gates is the company that manufactures belts for most Automotive manufacturers including Nissan.

The part number is "T137".

Usually NAPA will sell Gates belts under the NAPA name you have to check the package on the back.

If you give me your zip code I can find you a Gates dealer.

After hearing about timing belt idler bearings exploding on another forum. I have a new recommendation for everyone. This other dude trashed all his valves and had to replace the whole head. Apparently the bearings exploded, and sheared through the timing belt like a gunshot.

I recommend people get the bearings out and measured for replacement if they are making any noise at all. I had to press the bearings out of the nissan carriers, then get the new bearings and press them back together. Cost less than US$60, although my car was off the road for a few days while I waited for the bearings. Getting them from Nissan maybe possible.

So if your engine has any squeeking or grinding from under the timing belt cover. It's the right time to think about replacing the idler bearings.

I replaced my idler and tensioner. Was more than $60 though. Idler alone was like $70 if I remember correctly. And that was with a discount at everythingnissan.com.
