I have just reinstalled my timing belt. I aligned the marks on the camshafts and the marks behind them, then aligned the marks on the belt with the marks on the camshafts. When I hand cranked the motor over (to make sure nothing hit) the marks no longer matched up between the belt and camshafts. Is this normal? Also the camshaft on driver's side on the outside where the FAS is located is about a 1/2 tooth off, will turning the FAS correct this? Thanks in advance.

once the belt is on no one gear can move indepnedent of any others, the cas, is just a sensor and the vvt allows the cam to move a bit independent of the gear, but none of the gears can move at all without the others moving, you might find that if you backed the engine a bit everything appears a bit more in line, remember your belt has whole teeth not half teeth, so it can't be a half tooth off, only a whole tooth or more

also keep in mind you are likely looking at an agnle,a nd the dots are just punched into stamped steel which is bolted in place, and can be moved around a bit
