:help Hey guys, i've got quite a problem right now......

The other day i was putting in my CA16 cams but wasnt sure how to find all the correct marks, so i got my brother to come over and help me out since he's been working on cars quite a while.

the way he lined up the timing was by pointin the 2 white marks on the cam gears towards each other so they lined up in the middle not the outside. he then marked the crank pulley right where it was at, which was 4 from the left.

anyways i started it up and it was running like crap. i figured the timing belt was off so i decided (after hearing from a couple people) to line up the outside marks and have it on the 2nd mark from the left on the crank pulley.

well i took the cover off and all and turned the motor over so it was on the number 2 mark on the crank pulley and low and behold the cam gears on top are already angled and lined up with the outside marks.....so wtf?? I put everything back and started it up again and u can hear the valves and all hitting inside...its sounds horrible...so i turned it off.....pulled my timing belt off again....but now everythings outa wack.....i dont know what to do...i hope i didnt **** my motor up too bad...... someone please help on suggestions of what to do.:(

thanks,-Rick

Well I wouldn't be too worried. If the valve had been hitting the pistons your car wouldn't be running anyway. You can down load a factory service manual from here. This has a step-by-step on how to do it. http://www.zilvia.net/faqs/fsm/S13_CA18DET_FSM.zip ("Right click" and "Save as")
