timing belt gear

ok so on the crank shaft there is the timing belt gear and a washer behind it wit a notch in it and there is another one in the front.the one in the back doesnt stay on the keys on the crankshaft, and it looks like it is starting to cut into my oil pump.also i did a greddy timin belt an it looks like it is gettin shaved down there was a bunch of rubber shavings around it when i took it off.i dont want to f up the timing belt way too expensive. nebody have ne ideas?

did you take off that gear yourself before? suggest you buy new, all 3 pieces, something could be warped or you could have damaged the teeth on the gear if you removed it.

Take some pictures. I'm curious to see what the problem looks like.

did you put the right washer on? and on the right way? I know its cupped on the edges on one side. Then HAVE to be installed as well, I forgot one once on the front and my timing belt starting walking off.... glad I caught that before it was too late.

iirc the flat one goes behind the gear the the curved one infront with the curved face, facing away from the gear.

Sounds right to me. He might have reversed the first one causing the belt to grind against it.
