I have tomei cam gears as well, and feel the same way as you do about them. So I chopped the intake side of the cam cover off.....cant do this on the other side cause of the CAS.

Sean's (NeedCAforS13) car:

I've seen RBs with a little bracket that mounts on the front and holds the CAS and nothing else. Don't know if it ould work for a CA though...or even who makes it...

arent you guys worried about getting stuff behind the cover? i am not running my coilpack cover (misplaced the screws! kill me now!) and i have to shop vac out around the plugs before i can remove them because so much crap gets in there. i would be worried something would get around the crank gear and mess stuff up.

I used to keep mine on there after going standalone, but I've still got that gaping hole in the front so I figured it was a waste of weight so I haven't had it on for a long time. I haven't had any problems with anything getting caught in there. I've scrapped my hand a couple of times, but that's just me being stuid.
