I once have had a bad timing belt change from a dealer, they left the cover loose and bolts missing and also used the old screw driver trick to turn over the engine to get a new fan belt on that they claimed I needed and the old belt thy put in the trunk was cut off to save instalation time , a month later my vibration damper came loose on the flywheel pulley from being way to tight and I had to pull the radiador and at lot of bull to fix it myself, bottom line, I change my oil every 3000 with filter Im not harsh on the car , can I let the belt go to 90k.???? the engine is as steady as ever at Idle,I dont want another bad quicky job that who knows if a cigar butt or paper clip was left in the timming cover as well as a hamberger wrapper?

that sucks that happened to ya i work for a dealer myself as a line tech. I run a crew of 5 guys. if i caught one of them doin hack work similar to what you described i would rip em a new hole. your belt is a 60 k belt and should be done every 60k. The belts can last longer but its a risk to go that long cause if it breaks you are looking at bent valves at a minimum. Would you really wanna go that long though on a belt that was installed with short cuts and poor workmanship as you described? just something to keep in mind.

check your local dealers rating with nissan service index and see where they stand on thier fixed right first time scores. also check with your local bbb or consumer affairs see if the shop has alot of negetive feed back. note there will be some for all shops because there is always an unhappy customer ya know. but compare shops. do a little research first since it is your car someone else will be sticking their hands in. and to assure yourself a quality repair.
