Hey guys, got some questions about the timing on the CA. Ive checked mine numerous different ways, including the loop and the spark plug wire way and they all show I'm at about 10 degrees. The car runs great, definitly doesn't feel like its retarded 5 degrees, I don't smell any fuel or anything, and the spark plugs look good, if anything they look like I'm running more lean than rich.
Ive tried using mode II on the ecu to check my A/F mixture and it doesn't blink 10 times in 9 seconds at 2,000 rpm like its suppossed to, it will maybe blink twice at the most, the leds will stay on for around 8 seconds, then go off for 2 seconds, then back on, etc, etc. As far as I can tell this means I'm leaning out, when the leds are off it means more than 5% rich and when they are on it means more than 5% lean, right? I already changed the O2 and it does the same thing. I know its not like running a wideband O2 but it will cause the ecu to add or take away fuel, right?
In short, why does the timing look like I'm retarded 5 degrees but everything else shows that I'm leaning out, any opinions?
BTW, how do I know if mode II is operating in an open loop or closed loop condition.
