Good evening

I need some help regarding How to set my timing with a timing gun on the s14.

I know i have to disconnect the tps plug(by the throttle body??) and need to adjust the idle which screw is located behing the intake mani(looked butcouldnt find it), and that the tdc is 20 on stock kawhat would be a good number adjustment on it.But i like to know is a step by step or even a video clip that will show me how to do it and adjust it without making any mistakes on it.

I really need help i looked around searched and asked people but they all say one thing and other say another, just makes me more confiused please help!

thank you very much i will apreeciate it alot.

Are you just trying to adjust your ignition timing?

If just ignition timing disconnect the TPS start the car. Make sure the car is warmed up before you adjust timing if you want to advance it a lot. Make sure that the timing is set to stock specs, then zero that on the gun so you will know how much you've advanced it by. Tighten the distributor back down and shut the car off, reconnect the TPS and start her up. Rev it high and listen for a pinging noise, that is detonation and that will mess stuff up. If you are power timing it retard the timing until it stops pinging. I set mine to 15 degrees advanced at first, that was way to far, right now it is around 7advanced and that works fine. As far as adjusting the idle i didn't need to mess with that mine was at like 850 RPM at idle and it took it down to about 750 which is close to what it is supposed to be. Hope that this was at least a little helpful.

I adjusted the timing on it and left it on 20then re-conected the tps now i need to go buy gas and put it on the s14 th engine doesnt shake as much anymore

still theres the strong smell of gas but i think its gas left on the exhaust system from when it was running bad.

alittle puff of white smoke comes out still not too bad just sum .any other tips??

thank you!
