timeing problem

Is there and easy way to set timeing. I've been tyring to get it right for a while now and it won't start.

getting a spark, there is gas, I have tried 3 ecu's. Best I get is it runs for 5sec and cuts off.

ign timing or valve timing? what kind of car?on a dist sys you just turn the dist to adjust timing while shooting a timing light at it.valve timing would have to be adjusted by removing and resetting the timing chain.

ign timing. 91 240sx.

ok, you prob got a timing light on it and are turning distributor right? you need to unplug tps before you start up car. that will freeze timing at the base number so you can set it. oh, and it must be fully warmed up before you shut off and pull tps.
