What casues the timeing chain to rattle??

most likely cause: worn chain, guides and tensioners. replace the whole thing, people will tell you to just remove the top guide but that is just procrastinating for the inevitable...

if you dont know when the chain was changed last, get it done immediately.

by the way, this is a very commonly asked question so please search before posting next time.

im moving this to the KA section since i believe that is the engine you are asking about.
