Just to add to the checklist. A couple years ago, when I went through my motor, I found that on the hardline for the return from the fuel pressure regulator (down below the fuel filter), it had a spring clamp rather than a screw-type clamp on it. It had leaked. Since replacing it, I have never had any fuel smells from weather changes. I bought my Z new; and, other than myself, it was only worked on twice. Once under warranty for a bad injector, and once for a clutch replacement. Neither of which would have required working around the fuel return line. So, the spring clamp must have been a factory installed piece of hardware. Prior to replacing it with a high-pressure screw-type, tightening the clamps was a regular endeavor every year about this time (live in Minnesota). Somehow, never gave it a thought until a couple years ago. Just assumed it was ok to have it on the return line because it was factory installed.
