Is there an aftermarket one that can be used or does it have to be an OEM one?

I don't know of anybody making aftermarket replacements for those. It's a stand-alone display unit, unlike most other models where the display is integrated.

Yes it does suck. I am trying to replace my stereo unit as well. After disassembling everything I understand why. It is not a simple plug and play hook up. I tried the kunfine android 10 unit on amazon. Came with incorrect wiring harness and ZERO instructions. I am going to try to wire it myself but am hesitant and will probably buy a good brand if I have to do all that.

Man I missed the old days where you can just buy the wire harness and go. These new cars are too technical  let me know how it goes. Hopefully all goes well :dblthumb:

Dead pixels in the display. Some of those have ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connectors with flat-ribbon cables connecting the display to the mainboard. If you pop the back off the cluster and find a flat-ribbon, there's a good chance cleaning the cable and ZIF with alcohol and re-seating the cable into the ZIF will fix it.

Provided it stays that way, that's always the easiest repair.

You can probably find a used display screen on Ebay. They come form salvage cars and they usually guarantee them.

I've seen some, but I'm kinda skeptical. Maybe one day I'll get one
