I was running with an ac schnitzer BMW somewhere around bakersfield yesterday afternoon at about 115 or so and we started to climb a hill. the schnitzer downshifts real quick and slows to about half the speed, i was like wtf? slowed down next to him, looked over at him and he pointed in front of us just as we were coming to the top of the hill, i look ahead and there is a CHiP's officer with his door open, clocking everyone at the bottom of the hill. we drive past him and if looks could kill, im pretty sure the nasty look i got from Ponch would have killed me. at that very second, i realized that i needed some radar/lazer protection in my car. i have done a bit of reading about radar and lazer protection on the internet, but i was wondering if anyone on here has any real world experience with a product they would recommend haha.

My advice for mounting location is here. its away from peoples eyes and heat from the sun, making it a perfect place to hide and doing what it's suppose to do.

I also have an escort radar, you dont think that is too high? I feel like it would not pick up any signals coming from behind. I could be wrong though.

yeah i don't like it there because when it was there it wasnt picking up signals well and since i moved it i pick up signals from a much further range now.

just my 2 cents, but im getting a new radar soon because mine is old and starting to die on me. im thinking bout the beltronics sti radar detector, its supposed to blow the valentine one out of the water

I have used different types of radars that my friend has invested in. He has lent me the 50 dollar ones you get from target that do absolutely nothing to 400 dollar ones that work about 50% of the time. He recently bought a whole need type of radar/lazer jammer system that is installed on his plates and behind his tail and head lights with no HUD but a beeping system located by the driver seat mounted on the center console by the E-brake. I dont drive with him every day but so far he has not gotten any tickets.

The number one thing I do is . . . Dont speed (often)

I mean every once in a while, but 98% of the time I drive in the speed limit. thats 100% safe.

I live in Irving TX and here the cops love to use K-band alot, and every time a cop passes by with their radar on, mines detects it 100% crazyitalian, how did you mount the radar up there like i did?All my buddies have escort radars with GPS signals and they all mounted it on the left top corner. They all live in Arlington and Euless TX where all the cops use laser/KA and theirs would detect it 100% of the time too.

i mounted it right where the tint is and then plugged it into the outlet. after a while i put it lower so it doesn't come in contact with the tint and it started picking up signals much better

I mounted mines on the dotted surface is right beside the mirror. I used a little plastic mount plate that came with my GPS and stuck it on the dotted surface so that i can use the suction cups. I also hard wire mines so that their would be any wires dangling. I really think you should give it another try, maybe this time try the same place where i mounted mines. If it works good for you then i promise that would be your new favorite place to mount the radar.

Hey dude do you have anymore pictures up close of your mounting location? It looks nice and clean. I'm getting the Valentine V1 or the newest version soon and would like to place it there. You can email me the pictures to [email protected]

i've gotten plenty of speeding tickets in arlington. that's my hometown. my cousin sold me a use escort x50 and i love it. never got another speeding ticket again. then when i moved to austin my car got broken into and they jacked my alpine system, the radar, and a bottle of lotion.

but ne ways...definitely go with escort. when i save enough money i'm going to buy the 9500xi. the reviews on it are great!

good luck
