A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Just finished up the water pump and about to work on the brakes. I hope it is a straight foward job? I known a Buick Reatta and the Teves braking system is complex, espeacially when it comes to bleeding the system.

Is there any advice on changing the brake pads and bleeding the system? :spitout:

G20 is a straight forward brake job, just take a look at everything before you take it apart and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the heads up, I had my fingers crossed that it would be a simple procedure

No problem, if there are shims on the back of your old pads make sure you transfer them to the new ones.

So I did my brakes about 4 day ago on my 92 G20, and it appeared to be a simple process. The first bad thing I noticed is that the rear calipers are the type you have to spin back (god I hate these). is there a possibility I can change these out with the cup type? Because the front brakes have the cups so it is an easy process to push them back with a C-clamp. Second after changing all the break pads, I noticed that the brake lights and the ABS lights are on. Can someone explain why? Is there something I have to reset? I plan to bleed the brake lines today to see if that will help.

You can spin them back with a needle nose screwdriver, or just go get the universal "cube" tool that hooks to your 3/8 drive extension for like 10 bucks. Abs light on? Sure you didn't hit a speed sensor or anything while you were doing it?

This year/model doesn't have brake pad sensors does it?

The ABS light resolved itself, maybe after bleeding, not sure. i could have bumped a sensor again not sure. Gonna keep an eye on things for a while. The brakes still don't feel right, they're a bit soft. But brake light as well as ABS light are off and I hope everything is ok. I'm working on CV axle and strut replacement right now, will post that in a new thread.

Bleed some more, sounds like there was an air bubble in the the ABS motor, which was causing the code, now it's out of that and in your lines, making your pedal soft.

Might not be it but makes sense.
