I am looking to replace my rear tires which currently are Yokohama AVID 255/40 17's ... I need opinions on what tires you think are the stickiest for daily driving and drag. I would like to upgrade to drag radials, however any educated opinions are welcome ... thanks in advance!!

Check the tire FAQ. There is some good info there.

ET Streets for your drag needs. However, I have heard plenty of folks on this and other forums praising the good word of Falkein Azenis Sport. That is the tire that I run, and while I loathe drag racing, they are hella gummy and can take a pounding. Dave Coleman ran a 12.9 on them in his Project Silvia.;)

There are a lot of good choices in that size:

Michelin Pilot Sport PS-2Bridgestone S03 Pole PositionYokohama AVS Sport Goodyear F1 GS-D3 (whenever they get here :rolleyes) Kumho Ecsta MX

Those would be my top picks:

"what about nitto 555r's"

one word"ewwwwwww"

THe dont deal with ehat well, and dont hook any better than any of the tires grant listed, for my money, since its a drag type thing(I assume water traction isnt a huge deal), the azenis sports would do well, but I'd invest in the s-03's in a heartbeat, likewise the avs sports...

the ps2 may have problems with dragr acing due to its placement of tread compounds(seperate compounds designed for cornering, not straight line)-chet

More like look at the "lack of tread"

Very much Tread gets in the way of dry performance and is only there to vent heat build up.

Unfortunately he said DAILY DRIVING and lives in wet Florida so stick with ultra high performance for the warm rain.

Bridgestone S03 Pole Position...mmm...mmm...good. But they cost.

I don't know how they compare, but Falken has some Azenis 115s or something that if more of a v-groove tire. Should still perform almost like the one posted by driftaholic, but have better wet traction.

whats the big deal with the azenis then? is it just the look of the tread that makes it attract so much attention?

Toyo T-1S's. It is not even funny how good those tires are in the rain. Great in dry too. Were I could only hang at 45-50 I can now do 75 easily. My best 60' is a 1.9sec w/ a KA mind you. Traction AA --Temp A -- Treadwear 280.

Or try RA-1 SCCA guys love them, but they don't last to long and negative in the wet.

Eagle F1s are the best performing tires I've ever used, but they are expensive, and they only lasted me 10,000 miles on my Mustang GT. Just don't buy Khumo 712's.

I live in wet Florida and I have a set of Falken Azenis Sport on my 240 and those things stick like glue. There may be better tires, but these work great in the rain. My only complaint is that mine are about a year old and I've about worn them out with my drift attempts :( They really stick though and I've not heard anyone who uses them complain about them.

Edit: I see where people are concerned about wet traction...but I'm really trying to tell you guys that I've tried drifting my car in the rain and these tires take a lot before they will break loose.

My brother had a set and was surprised at the wet traction.

If you are still worried about wet traction then look at this one.http://www.falkentire.com/tires/st115_infopg.htm
