John Kerry would be it if he won. No one else really comes to mind. Big year for politics.

Scott Peterson?

Well, bear in mind that Man of the Year doesnt always mean "greatest"

Its just 'THE man of the year'. They base it on influence, polarity, controversy, success, etc. There usually has to be some kind of great triumph or struggle behind it. It has to be a newsmaker with some drama behind it.

Also in the running was Mr iPodiMacPixarFindingNemo, Steve Jobs.

not to get into the argument of whether he deserves it or not, I just think Time took the easy way out. I mean, it is like giving the best educator award to a university president. Just because they are the most visable doesn't mean they necessarily are the best choice.

Yeah, but its a media award. You give it to the person who had an impact -- preferably a visible one that you can devote a magazine cover to.

I think it's great. I am also pleasantly surprised to NOT see a bunch of flaming in this thread.

Regardless of your political opinion, your view of HIS politics, or your opinion on the war, this is a man with conviction and the balls to back it up.

No one is saying he's perfect (not even W himself), but I have to admire a man with the kind of leadership that doesn't take a back seat to popularity.

There are too many politicians out there (on BOTH sides of the spectrum) who become turncoats at the drop of a hat if it will net them a gain in the polls.

I think Time got it right.... for better of worse

Didnt Time have Adolph Hitler as man of the year once????

I asked that because it made me think of hearing that. Not because I am comparing GW to Hitler, dont go flaming me.

You can tell how hard hes worked by looking at 2 year old pictures compared to today. Also you have to admit is a very strong leader. I think he deserves it.

Dude, Laura is hot. If she flaunted that **** she'd be the object of your fantasy. Or maybe I mean the daughter, Barbara.
