Time for Winter wheels?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

New to the forum and the EX35.

Will the wheels off a late model Altima fit the EX35?

From what I can tell,

Description:
ALLOY WHEELS, 18x7.5, 10 SPOKE
NEW FACTORY NISSAN WHEEL

Finish:
SMOKEY HYPER SILVER
WITH GLOSSY CLEARCOAT

Partnumber:
ALY62521U78
FROM 003

These wheels are a 1/2" more narrow than stock (7.5" vs 8" ) with an offset of 45mm vs 47mm (stock). Fitment should mean inner clearance 8mm less and they'll stick out an extra 4mm.

Thoughts?

They seem to be a great deal on ebay.

Dean, Thanks for the feedback. Those are the same RIMs I ordered. Seemed too good a deal to pass up.

It is a good deal.

The 4mm and 8mm difference is minimal.

The eBay Rim-seller gives you a tracking number so you can see it travelling across the Country.

You'll need Center Caps and TPMS's too.

It's all in my Threads.

What Tires are you going with ?

For next years Summer Tires, I'm going with Michelins MXV4

TireRack = $886.84 US = $916.448 Canadian
1010 = $1184.15 Canadian

My only concern with the offset might be caliper clearance but these wheels are so big it shouldn't be an issue. I like the thought of OE wheels better because in general, they normally hold up better in the winters. (at least vs a similarly priced replica)

For tires, I'm looking for winter. I think I recall reading you went with the Pirelli's - I might source something locally depending on pricing.

I read through some of your other threads - thanks.

Caliper Clearance should be OK... after all, they put 17 inch Rims on EX35's too.

Dean, Michelin has some good product in their lineup but I always feel there's a better 'bang for the buck' with some other manufacturers....

Value seems to be some of the Korean stuff like Kuhmo, Hankook etc....

But I think some EX35 owners seem to like the Yokohama Envigor's- based on me poking around these forums. Have you looked at those? We ran the Envigor's on the vehicle our EX35 replaced (a Jetta) and they were great.

Seems that for the price difference, it might be more beneficial to save the $$ and change them out a little earlier.

For snows, I love the Nokians but they've gotten pretty expensive the last few years.

.... now... having said that, I just did a check on pricing @ Tire Rack, and the MXV4's are pretty close in price to the Envigors.... Didn't know you were including shipping on your posted prices.

P225/55R18 isn't the best size for variety :)

I was down at the dealership today. I'll be getting my EX35 tomorrow morning so I'm really excited !
The manager offered me their winter tires, starting from CDN $1300+ to $2k (without TPM). I guessed buying anything from dealerships will be expensive so I didn't take his offer.

Currently, I have a set of 17" winter tires for my G35. I doubt there is any possibility of fitting those into the 2011 EX35, is there ? He said that the 2011 uses 19" and the best it can go down to was 18", since 19" will be really expensive (how thoughtful of him).

I really don't want to spend my money on another set of tires if I don't have to. I recall buying those 17" winter tires for about CDN $1.7k back in 2006.

Having said, what's a good set of tires for me if I'm unable to reuse the old ones ? I'm looking for something good and reasonable ? It will be good to know the total cost with/without TPM. I doubt I'll be going for rims now, probably after this winter when I have more cash in hand. Is it cheaper to buy now, or wait till November when it starts to snow in Toronto, Canada ?

My knowledge with cars, parts, tires are really limited, so I'm really looking forward to get some great insights from you folks.

What type of tires/rims (size and type) were included in their offer? Some dealers are offering cheap offshore stuff - so be careful.

Example (see if the 17" size matches your current size) -- Aprrox 5% difference is overall rolling diameter. This will throw your speedo off a little bit. You'll also have to check the load/speed ratings.

Third # is the overall rolling diameter.

are these the diameters that I should be looking for if I'm scouting for new tires ? Are they the diameters that comes stock with the car ?
Sorry if my questions do sound silly, I'm so new to this... :(

225-55/18 is the standard 18" tire that comes with the 2011 EX35's. Wheel diameters as listed above are for 17" and 18". You can normally play with the sizing a bit (i.e. go a little more narrow) for the winter but you need to keep an eye on the overall diameter so it doesn't affect your speedo too much (or ride height). Also, you'll want to keep an eye on the load/speed ratings on the tire...

I got the Toyo GSi5's on 18" Nissan OE (Altima) wheels. They ride very smooth and I'm looking forward to seeing some snow!

Some minor trim issues with the car but I was able to 'snap them back in place'...

I purchased at Downtown Infiniti. If you need a contact PM me and I'll send it to you. Good luck with your purchase.

Sorry about the night-time photos... but its getting dark here real early now...

I didn't use the same Lug nuts as what holds on the OEM Wheels... so from Kal-tire, I bought a box of 20 Splined-locking Lug-nuts. A Box of 20 cost me $60.00 CAN

Image

Image

I went with the Splined ones, cause I didn't like the look of how the OEM Lug-nuts "Shoulders" didn't go flush with the Rim. The OEM's have a shank in between the Bevel and the Shoulder, which makes them look a liitle odd, when installed on my Nissan Rims.

Image

Also, much to my amazement, I haven't gotten a TPMS Warning-light appear on my Dash Gauge-cluster yet. I haven't done anything to prevent this Warning-light from appearing... so, crossing my fingers!

Those are the rims we got too! Thanks for sharing. I went with standard after market lugs. I see you went with the tuner lugs -- make sure you keep the key in the car!
