I've yet to see anything wider on stock wheels. You would probably want to go with wider aftermarket wheels for that.

245's will work fine on 7.5" width rims.

You can go wider by about 30 over stock before you run into scrubbing problems, but you need to make sure that you do some tire math to get the same revs per mile or you'll futz with your speedo. I don't have any experience with what the computer will do if you change the RPM of the tire.

Another vote for Yokohama S-Drives...I have them on my coupe. I also had a set of Toyo Proxies...I think I like the Yoko's more.

It looks like you could go to 255/50/17s on a 7.5" rim as far as the tire/rim are concerned (no lower profile however) without regard to any other factors such as possible rubbing or speedo issues. Speedo would be off by almost 3%. Recommended rim width of 7" to 9".

A 245/45/17 (no lower profile) will put you at about a 2% error on the speedo but also puts you are the recommended bottom limit on rim size of 7.5" to 9".

If you go to 18" you could go with a 255/40/18 with less than a 1% speedo error but you need 8.5" to 10" rims.

Non of these size address anything other than tire and rim size recommendations and not things like rubbing.

The biggest item however is brakes. I would not do anything wider without consideration of improvement of brakes, especially with the stock wheels. Aftermarket wheels may allow a lighter wheel but may yield a heavier tire with a greater rotational mass sitting at a greater distance from the center axis.

These are not figuring in the recommended rim widths for various size tires although you do get the offsets, etc.. The calculator does give the ability of matching up the speedo.

What really is necessary I believe is to follow the tire manufacturer recommendations for rim width which from what I have seen tends to land within about 1/2 inch between manufacturers. To be on the safe side, especially consideraing possible tire replacements in the future I would select rim widths based on the center recommendation for the target tire.

For example if a tire gave a rim width range of 7-9 inches I would lean towards an 8. If another tire manufacturer gives 6.5-8.5 inches or 7.5-9.5 inches you are still sitting pretty close to the same centerline area of what is considered acceptable rim widths. Otherwise one may need to select based on what is simply available in the way of tires instead of what is desired in the way of characteristics.
