OK guys, I got my CA front clip from Venus and everything looks great. I plan to put the engine in my 93 240sx fastback 5spd this weekend. I will be putting the engine in in its stock form to make sure I can get it to run. Then I will start to mod it. I was just wondering, for those of you who have swapped a CA, what should I look out for? or be specifically careful with? Or any tips for the tough parts? I'll be doing the wiring at my house after the engine is bolted in. (I will also be shooting for 280-325hp at the wheels this summer) Thanks, I greatly appreciate the help on these boards.

You stole my clip you bastard!!! I gotta wait til april 10th to get another one from venus. j/k man, i took to long to send in the deposit so its my fault. Glad to hear everythign is looking good. I haven't done the swap yet but from what i hear the wiring is by far the most difficult part of the swap and as far as things to look out for go...they say the turbo will probly go bad within a half a year or less. I'd stick my hand in there and check for some oil and give her a spin and check to make sure she's not all loose and sloppy (just how i like my women). Anyway, let me know how everything goes and long it takes ya cuz im hoping to get mine done in one weekend. GOOD LUCK!! :)

Of course check the turbo and put a new clutch in it while it's out.

Check to make sure all turbo related bolts are tight. Especially the ones that connect the turbo to the exhaust manifold. Those lock plates are crap. Check your sparkplugs or just replace them. Lastly when you've got it in and running make sure all your intake hoses/pipes etc... are tight.

That should get you around 300+hp! Sounds like you've been shopping or researching and that's cool, too!

rich...haha, i think NOT. i'm 16yrs old and i work at Donato's Pizzeria, lol. I pay for all my stuff paycheck to paycheck. I've paid for everything myself with no help from my parents(proud not to be one of THOSE kids, lol). I dont have all the parts yet but I have the money for most of em. Yeah, I'm shooting for 280-325hp if all goes well. I still have some more money to make before I have all my parts, but that is my list and I should have all of it by the end of April-early May. Thanks guys! I might even use a digi cam to take pics of the whole swap and my installs to help out those looking to do the swap. Maybe i'll password protect the site so it doesnt turn into another SR, lol. Thanks guys!

My advice will be to take your time and pay attention to what you're doing and you'll be just fine.

Don't drink more beer than your engine displaces......at least thats what i did with my 460.

Btw I called up venus yesterday and they said too call back in a week when the clips were expected to get in. The guy wouldn't give me a price estimate, so fast what did you pay?

I was told the CA front clips would be in april 10th or possibly earlier. I was quoted $1500 plus shipping and i sent em $500 deposit to hold one of them *****es for me.

i paid 1200+shipping from venus auto. the only thing that pissed me off about the clip from what i've seen is that the timing cover is cracked and all the hoses are cut(to empty fluids quickly). plus i am missing the air box and part of the piping to the throttle body. ecu is in proper place and everything else looks fine. i'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow. Not too much longer, bwuaahhahahahahah!!!

Btw CA18Fastback, I've always kinda wondered how they unloaded the clip off the truck and they told me that they would just charge me extra to use their equipment to unload the clip. Is this true, im not gonna have to worry about getting somethign to unload the thing am i?

Doogz- My clip cost $520 to ship but thats to PA, near philly. So it should be less if you go almost anywhere else. I paid a 100 extra for a liftgate which they didnt even have the 1st 2 times they were gonna deliver it. Bastards really pissed me off, not venus's fault, just the local freight company.

Kingsoup-thanks for the blessing, lol :( i'll be good. i'm pretty careful driving and i've put too much time earning money and time spending money to go destroy it doing something dumb.

TODAY's UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1The dead KA is out. CA is out. CA will be quickly sprayed clean then dropped in so i can take it home(its in my friends yard now). Then i'll wire it all up this week and get it clean as it can be. The head will then be taken off when i get my Tomei HG. I'll polish up the intake mani and put my custom exhaust one on( i didnt have it made, a friend bought it on here from someone else on here, lol) Then the custom piping will be made and BOV installed as well as all the other goodies. It'll be a lil while but i'll keep you all posted. Clip pic is below.

Aight guys, Day 2 of my swap is done. Here's what is pissing me off....

Car was lifted all the way around. Then(here's what i think my mistake was..) i bolted the drive shaft back together cuz i took the end spindle thingy off with the trans yesterday. Then the engine was lowered in and the trans was attached to the driveshaft before the engine was attached to the motor mounts. That was a mistake. The engine will now not go far enough back to get onto the motor mounts. Not even an inch and a half away and it wont go. What ya'll think? Tomorrow after school, I'm gonna unbolt the spindle thingy and pull it out, then drop it in and bolt the motor mounts in. then i'll worry about the transmission and driveshaft. Sound good?

yea ur supposed to bolt the motor mounts in first then the drive shaft but I guess you realized that. Oh well ya live and learn. Sounds like you're making good progress though. Good luck.Take it easy.

Yea, that's just a slight set back to your install and you have figured out what you did wrong and you will have it fixed in no time. Keep up the good work man!

Hey everyone. Today after school will be Day 3 of my CA swap(for those of you who havent been paying attention). Here's what I plan to do today...-Unbolt driveshaft spindle(see last reply about mistake)-pull engine and transmission-lower engine into place and bolt down motormounts-bolt up transmission crossmember and driveshaft-clean up friend's yard :D -tow car home to start routing hoses

QUESTION: Where can I get new hoses for stuff like the radiator, etc. Will the CA18DE ones work? Also, where can I get SS oil feed and return lines for my new turbo? Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!~Ian

The CA18DE hoses should work for everything, not 100% sure on the radiator hose but i think it should work. I don't know where you'd find SS lines for the turbo though.

awesome, can anyone else second that? if so, i think i'll take a trip to the auto parts store and get my new timing belt, new hoses, etc.
