Ouch, those rates do sound high, but how does it compare to the national average for other makes?

Ok, I have a quote request.

1991 Infiniti Q45 85,xxx on the car, 38,xxx on the engine. Dealer maintained from Day 1. All service records available.

My question is: is it even possible to get a warranty and how much?

Yeah....

Perhaps some details about how the whole "aftermarket" warranty thing works would be cool. What are the prices like, what does it cover... etc etc.

I have heard from a couple shop owners that most of these types of warranties are worthless because they won't cover any "pre-existing" conditions... and they can pretty much consider any breakdown or repair a pre-existing condition. Is this true... or could you please shed a different light on the subject. I have two vehicles on the road without warranties, and I might be convinced to cover them both if the price and coverage was right.

Thanks for your time and sponsorship of our site!!

I had an extended warranty on my q45a from "Members Choice Autocare". In the warranty document it pretty specifically spells out what IS covered which for a q45a doesn't include much of the actsus. That coupled with Cerritos Infiniti in Southern California trying to put it to the warranty company my benefit was zip, zero, NADA. I think the larger the claim, the less likely they are to pay.

Didn't mean to imply that it did. As a matter of fact, if it hadn't been for the dealer, Cerritos Infiniti in Southern California, it might have been a benefit. Instead of repairing whatever was wrong, which is what these warranties are good for, Cerritos Infiniti in Southern California said there were a whole lot of things wrong that were not, and when the warranty companies agent did not confirm any of them, they denied the whole claim. I'm not happy with Cerritos Infiniti in Southern California, can you tell?

I am very sorry I could not answer all your questions, I was out of the office. I will try to answer all questions in order.

Bubba1:All vehicles you mentioned are expensive to repair. The national averages for most vehicles now are $75 to $90 per hour. IN NYC they actually can go over $100 per hour! We pay all part and labor cost.

90q45blue:The farthest we go is to 95 vehicles. Try Exoticwarranty.com. They are one of our partners and may be able to help.

240kid:Your dad's 99 Bmw ould be eligible, as long as it is a 3 or 5 series. We do extended warranty on auto vehicles, including Nissan, and Infiniti.

To answer your questions I had to use the whole posting.

The way we work is like this, you can go to any repair facility. The repair shop will diagnose the problems with your vehicle, and call the claims facility. The claims facility ok's the work, and pays the shop through a corporate credit card-VISA/MC. You get your work done and get the car.

Pre-existing problems can be a clause that certain companies will use to get out of a repair. There are fly-by-night companies unfortunately that can give this industry a bad name. We eliminate pre-existing conditions by having our customers do a pre-warranty inspection. As long as the inspection is passed the policy starts with no delay, and that clause is eliminated.

Go to our site http://www.warrantywarehouse.com and put quotes in for both of your vehicles. A quote can be given within 30 seconds.

Dgeorge,

I have heard a common complaint in the years I have been doing this:

Autorepair shops taking advantage of a consumer by diagnosing unecessary repairs. A warranty is very beneficial because the shop is stopped from using tricks like this. An independent adjuster is used in cases where the repair sounds fishy. For example a common repair of this kind is a balljoint. They wear out over time, and repair shops always want to replace them. However, unless they are worn beyond manufacture tolerance level they do not need to be replaced. They still work fine. A good warranty not only protects you from the high cost of repairs, but also repairs your car does not need.

Good stuff... thanks for the reply! The "pre-existing" thing is what has kept me from ever looking into it. Sounds like you guys have that all figured out.
