So i was checking the codes on my s14 and 32 popped up (egr system) I turned the car off and tried the codes again and i got 55.This confuses me will my car pass smog? Its almost stock except a dumb sport exhaust the previous owner put in I used seafoam to clean it out.Will i pass? im worried

when you check the codes, and run through em, it clears em. then you try again and you get 55(all clear)no, your car will not pass. even if you manage to keep the code/ light off for the smog, your egr system is not functioning properly and you will fail for high nox. also, if they have to do a functional test on it, it will also fail.diagnose and fix your egr system first, then go get smog

What would trigger a Egr system code? If i bought i new Egr valve it should go away riiiiight?

EGR code does not always mean its the EGR valve but go ahead and replace it since you got one, its still possible though. also make sure to check your BBT valve and all your vacuum lines connected to those, especially near at the charcoal canister.

you know what check that 90 degree vacuum hose, that seems to disintegrate after a while.

the most common reason for a egr funtion code is the BPT hose. runs from the BPT(back-pressure transducer) to the egr. very common to go out, is about a 32 cent hose. clean the carbon out of the egr and the passages in the intake and see if it throws it again. this is all of course, if you dont have the proper tools(vacuum pump) to check the egr the proper way

All the Hoses Seem to be intact.I ordered the Egr Valve so well see how it goes.Any tips on taking the thing off? Its a tight squeeze and I cant seem to unscrew the hardline tube that goes to the manifold.

tip#1NO AIR TOOLS!!!invest in a bottle of PB Blaster, any parts store has it, about 3 bucks.make sure to have the right fitting socket/wrench. exhoust bolts love to round off and snap
