im not 2 sure wuts up with my motor but im thinking of getting a rb25de..does any1 have one? i just want the motor alone nuthing else. i plan on using all my other stuff from the rb20det and just selling the motor or parting it out. i was wondering do i need 2 get the rb25det ecu and harness and redo my wiring? i have a turbine upgrade so i dont need the turbo parts or at least i think i dont.. can i use the rb20det exhaust manifold on the rb25 motor?

if you are goin to turbo the NA i think you need to which out the RB25DE internals for aftermarket or stock RB25DET ones(wrong compression ratios), i dont knoe if the wire harness is goin to work or ecu for that matter unless you goin standalone, the NA cams are better than the RB25DET more respondsive and hit boost earlier, and the RB20/25 exhaust mani is the same

YOU WILL NEED TO GET RB25DE/T WIRING AND A STANDALONE BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO TURBO A NA. BTW THERE ARE NO PISTON SQUITERS IN THE NA VERSION OF THE RB25DE. THE RB20 EXHAUST MANI WILL BOLT RIGHT UP, BUT THE INTAKE DOESN'T.

you do not need a standalone to run a RB25DE with a turbo. if you have a DET ecu you will be fine.

UMM NO YOU WONT.... YOU GOT TO REMEMBER THE DET ECU IS SETUP FOR 9 TO 1 COMPRESSION NOT 10 TO 1, ITS GOING TO GRENADE ITSELF ALMOST INSTANTLY.

LOL you honestly think 1 point of compresion is gonna cause that much havok?

to be blunt: you are wrong.

the RB ecu's adapt timing and fuel to how the engine runs. soooo if its running lean it will pull a little timing, add a little fuel.

you gotta look into what compression actually is and does. he does NOT need stand alone just for 1 point of compression.

umm, buddy the computer can not and will not compensate that far. one point is night and day..... thats like saying if you boosted 18 psi on the stock computer its not going to have issues. If you want to try your luck with a rb25det ecu on a rb25de boosted go ahead and have fun.

you can go ahead and belive whatever you want, you will see as soon as seans motor is running again with a DE replacment with a stock DET ecu and tubo parts.

1 point will not adversley affect it that much. i dont think you understand what a 15 degree retardation will do to timing, thats a lifetime in crank rotation.

I know what 15 degress does.... thats why I was scrambled to get it fixed.... but one point is alot.

it will have excellent daily driver properties, but the 10-1 compression will limit max boost.

i would say that the det ecu will run the show just fine.the increased static compression isnt going to affect airflow or fueling ratios, but will limit the dynamic compression [boost] achieveable on pump gas.

i dont think that the small reduction in overall timing needed is out of the ECU's scope.

WELL I HAVE SERIOUS DOUBTS THAT THE ECU CAN COMPENSATE THAT FAR BUT IF YOU GUYS SAY IT SHOULD THEN BY ALL MEENS GO FOR IT AND TELL US HOW IT WORKS OUT.
