I just upgraded my tires from Falken Azenis RT-615 (front 215/40/17 rear 245/45/17) to Toyo Proxes R888 (front 255/40/17 rear 275/40/17) and I'm concerned that I'll have issues with oil pooling away from the pickup due to the added g forces.

Will I be okay, or should I pull the RB25 oil pan off and make a custom baffle?

Are you roadracing? or what.

No offense, but I doubt your generating enough G force with those tires to cause problems unless your at high RPM in corners on a roadrace track.\

I think your fine, just put an oil pressure gauge in for good measure if your scared.

^I think he does HPDE...Let me know what you think about those tires. I just upgraded from the Azenis to the new street tire Kumho XS in the same sizes as your R888's. So far I like them more than the 615's.

You already have an accusump, no? I'd just keep the pan heavily topped off (maybe 1 qt over max for the track) and leave it. RB25 pans don't really seem to be as starvation prone as the 26 pans for some reason. Maybe it's because it the 25 pan doesnt have the extra wide sides like the 26 pan does. Maybe it's cuz they don't go into AWD cars though...

I'd say you'll be ok with the 25 pan the way it is.

One thing I would recommend is the Mines valve cover baffle plates. That helped me a lot with blowby (went from maybe .5 quart loss to basically 0), which could lead to losing a lot of your pan oil in a 25 minute session.

Yes, my car is only used for HPDE and Time Trials. I only drive it on the street 1-2 times per month totaling less than 100 miles. I've already got oil pressure and temp gauges, and a 3qt. Accusump just in case. Oil pressure gauge can't be monitored at all times, so the question still stands...

EDIT: Ah indeed. I don't really have an issue with blowby at all. In all the events I've attended this year, I haven't accumulated any oil in my catch can.

I'll let you know how they run, Gawdzilla. Should be a HUUUUGE difference because of the front contact patch.

if you have an accusump you dont need baffles.

interesting regarding your catch can. i'm pretty sure mine wasn't a sign of motor health, but instead of oil pooling too high in the valve cover and getting forced out the top. now my catch can only fills with moisture now.

i'm surprised you werent getting a ton of understeer with those 215's up front

That's how mine is. It only accumulates vapors, but I've yet to see any oil sitting in it.

Haha it wasn't terrible. That being said, I'm way too heavy up front because of the 26. Not gonna lie, I've considered swapping this motor out for an LS1 or something similarly light.

I don't think I have the balls to go through with changing out the engine without it dying, though...

they drilled small drain holes in the ridge there to help oil return to the pan.

I'm blind.

I guess now that I feel better about the oiling situation it's time to decide what flares I should buy. I don't think I can roll the fenders enough to clear the new rubber.

Googling it provides mucho info. I had mine installed by DynoComp after I did a ton of research and bought the parts. The list of stuff I bought:

One of these: http://www.cantonracingproduct...4-006

One of these: http://www.cantonracingproduct...4-273

One of these: http://www.cantonracingproduct...4-200

Then you just need to figure out where you're going to mount it.

hey, how are those tires workin out for you? im thinkin of pickin up a pair....

could you go bigger than 275 in the back? or is there no more room? i got a 10.5in rim in the rear and always wondered how wide of a tire i could put back there.

I can't comment on their performance, yet. I would need a wider wheel in the back to go bigger, as 275 is about perfect for a 9.5 inch wheel. Your 10.5 could fit 295-305 I'm sure.
