ok, so i just went out to change the fpr and im so retarded i thought i should share it. the old fpr unscrewed easily enough, and when i popped it off the fuel rail i got some fuel spillage. ok, fine, whatev. ive got a whole line of defenses so nothing makes it to the garage floor. by now you may be asking, why would you ever do this in the garage? well, im dumb, what can ya do. so, i go to pop the return line out from the little rubber hose that goes to the hard line under the manifold, and then the other rubber line, and then the other hard line. so anyway, i go to pop it out and it is freaking in there, and i mean really in there. after about 5 minutes of gouging up my hands and prying and levering it finally pops off. oh no! did i mention im dumb? i had just, and i mean JUST filled it up with gas. all the way up. it just started coming, and coming, and coming. needless to say i screamed like a little girl as several gallons of chevron 93 went rushing past the barricade of rags and paper towels i had carefully set up. i mangled my hand while wrenching it from behind the engine, and tore over to the garage door. opened it, and proceeded to push the car out. by the time i had gotten the car to the driveway it was all over, and there were quite a few gallons of gas all over the garage floor. go me. i havnt done any more work on it, i just came in here reeking of gasoline something awful and thought i would post this while the garage airs out. hope it was worth a laugh, i thought it was priceless. by the way, my hand is really swollen and the gas makes the cuts sting like crazy.

so i just went back out there and noticed it was still leaking. whee. had to detach the return line from where it connects to the hard line on the outside of the intake mani. and cram a big bolt in it. now there is gasoline all down my arm and pooled up in my shirt sleeve. this had better freaking be worth it!!

update: i hurt myself again. damn fuel line was on so tight! i had to really reef on it to get it to come off, and when it let go my hand hit the throttle cable bracket (you know, its just right there). took a chunk of skin the size of a quarter off and now im bleeding everywhere. it even took the hair off with it!! i hate the cold. even more i hate rubber hoses in the cold. i will prevail!!! the fuel pressure will be set tonight if its the last thing i do!!!

it really wouldnt have been more than a 30min job if i didnt have to fab up a mounting bracket and it wasnt really freaking cold! i also took frequent breaks whenever i a) hurt myself, and b) did something stupid. as you can imagine, i took quite a lot of breaks!

anywho, ive got it done and the car runs like crap because my safcII settings are for a shot stock fpr. it idles really smoothly but when you try and move the car it bogs like crazy. ill get to it tomorrow.. ive got 5 cars right now (including a really bada$s bmw 330 w/ perf. package) because my parents sketched off to paris, so i dont feel the need to do it right away. welp, im off to watch some serious tv. thanks for laughing guys!

Did you loosen the gas cap to bleed the pressure? It keeps it from continuing to come out after the intial surge.

Tim....wow....just....wow. All I can say is that you never cease to amaze me. Just then I thought that you had reached the upper echelon of retardedness, you come in with a whopper like this.

Cliff Notes: Relieve fuel pressure before changing the FPR. Tim is an idiot. The cool kind of idiot that you hang out with anyway because he makes you feel smart.

He's waiting for the smoldering garage to cool down enough that he can get close to the S13 to finish working on it.

you do know they make special pliers that will clamp onto lines to keep them shut so this doesnt happen, hell even vise grips work. dont feel bad i have a tech here that did the same thing last week. and he didnt cap off the tank line so every time the car was on the lift and got shook gas would start pooring all over him from above.

damn right i did. finished it the other night (if you would have read....). i did some driving around and it is running slightly better, but it doesnt quite haul balls like it did before. its cool though, it just has to last me until i get off my duff and install this MSII.
