Tilt/telescopic motor out

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I was driving my EX for the first time in a while last week, and thought I'd adjust my steering wheel, see if I could find a spot I liked more. Apparently since I bought it, I never tried to adjust it. Move the knob on the side and get a grinding noise, no movement. Do some reading online, seems pretty common issues arise from the automatic movement, I have this turned off for the drivers seat because I wanted to avoid just this.

Where it is works for me, so not the end of the world. And from the reading I've done, it sounds like the cost of repair is more than it's worth. That said, I wanted to ask if anyone here has done the repair? Is it as easy as taking off some plastic and swapping a motor, or is it more in depth?

Damn Nissan on their motors. I have to swap out the window motor on my Z too, that'll be a job for the spring though.

Thanks

I think the bigger issue would be finding one... we can probably walk you through the replacement with the FSM, but finding a new one will probably be cost-prohibitive. :(

That's what I assumed. Unless I got a used one out of a wrecker, I don't think it would be worth the cost.
