is there anyway to reset the sensor for tilt steering? 2 problems. 1st is i can only get half of full cycle to tilt up while car is idling or running but once the car is off it goes through its full motion. being im tall, i normally tilt the steering all the way up when entering and exiting the car while running. other wise its a bit uncomfortable trying slide in and then readjust myself once completely in the car. can this be reset or do i need a new sensor?
2nd issue is when i got the car, the tilt mechanism would adjust up when key removed and tilt down when key entered. no longer. started that recently. i tried the button on the side and it changes nothing. sensor or something else. the first issue, no full motion, has been like that sense i had the car. though it wasn't a problem because the key in and out function worked. now it doesn't.

So I take it there is no adjustability or resetting? New sensor needed?

Does the seat still move when you insert/remove the key? If not, you probably just need to re-initialize the system...

as a matter of fact no. i dont think the seat ever moved when sticking the key in the ignition. though the seat mechanics work fine. however would the explain why i don't get full range of motion while car is running? when car is running, the wheel tilts completely down but only tilts half way up. when the car is off, the wheel will tilt completely up and down.

Not sure. Maybe try pulling the neg batt cable and leave it off for a few. Reattach and re-initialize the seat & wheel functions and see where that gets you...

Memory! Where is the box responsible for trip mileage? I've noticed the trip meter resets everytime the car is turned off. Maybe that is related to the memory function of seats and steering wheel placement.

Probably the BCM, located under the driver's side dash near the kick panel (at least that's where it is in my 94.) Check your fuses, as it sounds like maybe the "hot at all times" circuit may not be energized.
