Hey guys,

I was just wondering wat most you recommend is best for the tiida/versa on 1.8l. I got some quotes for my tiida for a catback exhaust with a magnaflow muffler and magnaflow cat 2.25inchs mendrel bent.

One of the people told me it probably wont be a good idea to put on the cat as it will loose alot of torque. He has had alot of experience (30 years) however he has never done one before. He recommended i just put on the muffler and get an axleback done as it would probly perform best.

I want to find out what u guys recon i should do, ethier put on the catback system or the axleback system. Does anyone have any dynos to give me a rough idea of performance on each? Also wat size piping do you guys recommend is best for the axle back system mendrel bent? The exhaust is also going to have flanges to retain back to the original system if needed.

anyways let us know wat u think and post away.

ThanksMoz@

Put it from the Cat back, at 2.25 inches you shouldn't lose any torque at all. 2.5 would be the very biggest I would go and might lose torque, but not sure without a dyno.

You could contact Greg (AZHitman) on the BRM exhaust catback and see what he could do. Its the sticky thread at the top:http://forums.nissanversa.org/zerothread/361094

I have the QG18 engine powered '06 Sentra, which is basically similar to your MR18. Ok I lie! It's rated at 126 hp and 128 tq, so it's marginally more powerful.

With that said... I would strongly advise you to avoid getting an aftermarket header (if you are so thinking of doing) as you will gain pretty much nothing but a PITA from the check engine light (unless they have a legal workaround by now) and crappy rasp that sounds like a stupid fartcan wannabe. Oh and you will most likely lose low end torque (which is important to you if you like to drive like a normal person around 2-3k RPM unless you will be racing on a track).

And definitely do NOT go with 2.5" piping. That's super silly ridiculous and you will just lose power. Go with 2.0" or mayyyyybe 2.25". My Sentra has a 2.25" catback custom made by the local guy here. It doesn't seem to do anything, but lower the overall sound.

Also, I have a FlowMaster 40 series muffler which is just a drone machine ( = giant headache) so don't get one of those haha.

Intake wise, I guess it's up to you. I felt no difference at all when I put one on. Only nice feature is it made my engine sound more aggressive with that distinct growl. That's it.

DO get a resonator if your system doesn't already have one, IF you hear too much annoying rasp or your aftermarket muffler is loud.

To recap:

The MR18/QG18 aren't really built for speed, but for fuel economy. With that in mind, much like you, I went ahead and got some mods done on the cheap because it was a learning experience, and fun.

Intake (go for it)Header (if you realllllly want to)Catback (probably not necessary, but perhaps no larger than 2-2.25" tops)Axleback - go for it. If nothing else you might have a mean sounding Versa.

Another options is of course throwing $4000 at the car and hope it turns into a turbocharged sleeper.

2.25" will be alright for a 1.8 liter engine. Do get a resonator and for the Check Engine Light, use this trick:
http://www.energeticforum.com/....html
I used it when I had my Scion tC and it works. Most of the Scion community uses this mod to prevent the MIL light comming on.
