Who was it on the board that bought the Tiida grill, and said that it does not fit. I would like to know what was the problems with fitment and what not, and if you plan on selling it.

yea I seen it too, that is why I am wondering who had bought one, because I thought I remember seeing someone post and say it does not fit, but I would like to know why, as it might be something easily fixable for me and I can have a tiida grill!

its because the tiida grille is two peices unlike the US grille that is one peice and goes over the bumper if you pull the grille off you'll see that the nissan symbole on the tiida is attached to the bumper instead of the grille hope this helps anyone who is curious (whe pulling your bumper off US versa there will be about 6 tabs u can get your hand down at the bottom of the grille and pop them bout dont worry it takes some pressure just push them straight out they wont break)

comparason:

TIIDA

VERSA

so then it is just a gap between the two I guess? That would be an easy fix, my grill is sitting behind me right now, preped for paint. But I like the way it looks without the grill, looks kinda like an EVO, and figured that the Tiida grill would look nice, but did not really click to me why it would not fit. Now I get it, maybe I will fab myself up one later.

The entire shape of the grille is different. I can see right now that those pieces would not work on a Versa.

The Tiida's grill and front clip is more slanted than the Versa.

As for your grill, you could just cut out the dot stuff and leave it open or add some mesh and paint it a gloss black. Seems cheaper and less work.

If you do buy a Tiida grill remember the hood is also different so it would need modding or replacement to match the Tiida...

Anyone know what would make a manufacturer change grills for a world-wide car? It doesn't seem to make economical sense. I can understand changing the name (given language variations), changing the speedometer (km versus miles) or even changing the motor (1.5L probably would not sell well in the US). But is that small difference in the grill going to make any difference to a consumer versus the cost of fabricating two types of grills?

Manufacturers will often change things like the grill from one model year to the next so it must not be that big a deal to do so.

The biggest difference is the bucktooth. On the Tiida, the tooth is a part of the bumper. On the Versa, it's a part of the grille. Also, the Tiida bucktooth is smaller, and there's a sort of hangover to it from the hood that the Versa hood does not have.

If you really wanted to use a Tiida grille, you would need to fill in that middle spot somehow.

There may also be a difference in height. Since the hoods are different, the Tiida grille may be taller (or shorter) which would mean it may need to be trimmed as well.

seems like that would be too much work, and it would be easier to fab from scratch, thanks for all the info!

if you go to my car domain http://cardomain.com/ride/2556991 you can see how it looks. I painted it black with spray cans, I am still not finished though, I am waiting a few days for it to cure, then it is getting color sanded, a fresh coat, and cleared.
