A week ago I had my local Nissan dealership perform the recall work on the clutch slave cylinder for my 07 Z. Even though I haven't had a problem with the clutch like many 07 Z owners have experienced, I still thought it would be best to get the work done since I received the letter from Nissan telling me my Z had the bad cylinder installed. After picking up the Z I noticed that shifting into 5th gear was tight and shifiting into 6th was very tight and sometimes would not go into gear the first attempt. My Z only has 3,400 miles on her and the gears were not this tight before the recall work. Is this normal after dropping the transmission and will the gears loosen up? Just thought I would get other Z owners opinion before I call the dealership. --Thanks

got the work done to my car, my 5th and 6th feels thesame. Might want to get it checked just in case...The shifting action feels smoother-that the only difference I can tell

Who dropped the transmission as you say and for what purpose?

The dealership told me that they had to drop the transmision to put in the new clutch slave cylinder. I was not there to watch them do the work, so I 'm not sure what the process is to put in the new cylinder. I don't even know what the thing looks like. Please fill me in on where this cylinder is and if they really had to drop the transmission. Thanks

You shouldn't have to drop the transmission unless the 07's have something blocking it.

The 07+ Z has a redesigned slave cylinder which is mounted inside of the transmission housing. This requires dropping of the transmission for access.

I had the procedure performed also, and found a slightly smoother pickup at the clutch engagement point. I also think that the shifting got slightly more notchy as I missed a shift into 4th, and had not done this before. But maybe it is in my mind .
