i just got my car back from the shop and they told me im going to need to replace my tie-rods soon... i am pricing them around local shops and other places and was just wondering if i should upgrade these? or just get stock ones? is it that big of a deal? and how much should i expect to pay for a set?

My car needed them...inner and outer (well only one inner, but both outer). I bought the Tein set. It includes (2) inner tie rods, (2) outer tie rods, and some fancy pants spacers that allow for a couple degrees more of steering. You don't have to install the spacers though (I didn't) They're supposed to be stronger than say, Moog parts...but who knows. I bought them b/c they were $155 total which wasn't too much more than the Moog stuff.

Best I could find was $125 for the Moog ones at O'Reilley. And that is with a "Hey I Own A 240SX Too So I Am Gonna Cut You A Deal" discount. I have the Tein ones as well. Putting them on tomorrow, but they look WELL worth the extra $20.

So buy the moog stuff. PDM carries them...scroll midway on the page:http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/suspension.html

im supposed to be getting a deal from a local shop too... i'll see how much they ask... if its about $100 im just gunna get the Tein cuz theres no reason not to just spend a little more but if i can get them cheaper some where else i am on a tight budget ^-^

the grease pillow on one of my outer rods had blown, so i called the nissan dealer and for a new stock outer rod end it was like 90 bucks lol. so i just bought the whole tein set. I am using the increased angle spacer and have had no problems, the spacer is helpful in parking lots and stuff. i would just say to make sure and use thread locker between the inner rod and the rack, people have had them rip out when they dont use thread locker.

Thanks for the tip. I will do that when I toss mine on tomorrow. How long did they take you to install? Any tips needed?

hmm lets see. in theory it should be a simple job but **** always comes up. when i was doing mine, i had trouble getting the stock lock plate off the inner end and ended up ripping it off, which wasnt necessary heh. if it gets stuck or somthing just bang on the stock junk with a hammer, it should come loose. And to get the stock inner ends off, i used a crescent wrench and got under the car and pushed the wrench, bracing myself on the front lower arm. the steering rack kindof torques when you do this because it is on so tight, dont worry you wont break anything, but it is on there TIGHT. took me about an hour but if you know how to do it it should take like 15-30 min.
