Tie/Rod & boot replacement questions?

Ok I have a 95 Se and my passenger side rack boot is torn. I wanted to replace the Tir rods anyway so I have a few related questions.

WHen changing Tie rods (teins for example) does one usually buy new rack boots because the old ones rip (or one discovers a rip/crack) when taking them off to change the rods?

I have a torn one now and I want to get te rods casue teh ball joints are a little messy. Should I just wait and order the tein rods AND two new boots and do everything at once? Or should I get a new boot and replace it while I wait for the rods? Thanks!!

Do everything all at once. BTW, the boots are sold individually, so you don't have to buy the pair...it's a good idea though if the other one is showing lots of wear.

I did mine all at once. I got 2 new boots just cuz and threw em on when I did my Tein tie rods. They cost $17 bucks each though at Napa.

Ok i got everthing ordered now (P2M is awsome!) but i am also waiting on some Tein HE's.....

Since I KNOW ill need alignment after the rods, I shoudl probably do the HE's at teh same time or VERY shortly after so I can save on the alignment... you agree? anyone :p?

I just don't know how long I should go on the torn rack boot...though its prolly not a big deal, anyone have any input? THanks!

Unless you have a good hookup with your alignment shop, I would recommend doing it all at once. Patience is a virtue.

I agree. I waited for all of my stuff to get in (coilovers, tie rods, tension rods, sway bars, wheels/tires) before I got my alignment.

whew.... I might have to order some TC rods then too. I wont need alignment after sway bars (will I?). Thanks guys! Patience is a virtue--especially when you have cool parts that you see sittign in front of you everyday:p--

You should not need an alignment after installing swaybars.

Yeah, your telling me! I have my RB20, Hybrid intercooler, Supra MKIV fuel pump, GReddy Power Extreme TR2 exhaust, Tein tie rods and ends, Tomei HICAS lock, Eibach springs, nismo tension rod bushings, and 550cc injectors (T3/T4 coming in April) all sitting waiting for me to get home to put them in... tough! This will be my 3rd RB swap, and I can't wait to do it again... 4 more weeks until I get back home...

No alignment needed after sways, I just wanted to have it all on so I could show it off to the monkeys at the shop j/k

hey RB- I am REALLY considering teh Rb swap myself. I have done 3 sr swaps but No rb's :(

I just want to ask a few questions since you mentioned that. I mean i have read everything already but never really talked to anyone with an RB20....You like it a lot and how does it compare to teh sr in YOUR opinion? Did you use the mount kit or crossmember with a clip? hows the swap in general, pretty simple if you can wire? Any pics, tips, videos :ylsuper or anything else you would share with me would be cool. I am just not sure i want SR again... Thanks man!

Feel free to email me any questions you have (since this is a suspension part of the forum). If you look up some of Hybridone's posts you will see pics and vids of the install we did on his car. I have my old S13 in my sig, but I never really finished out that car because I wanted a newer body. I got it running and driving, but I never really finished out the car. I sold the car/shell to someone on the forum and the motor to Hybrid. It's in his car now, and my new motor came two weeks ago for my nice, newer '92 S13.
