ticking????

alright i just got my motor back up and running and fixed the oil leak now i have a pretty loud ticking noise pretty sure it coming from the valve cover. ive read up on the lifters and im going to check those now. but another thng is when i rev it just a little i hear a really loud like crack sound... sounds like something is just hitting metal to metal that noise is only when i rev it maybe 2rpm. the clicking is always just when idiling. can i cjeck the lifters with only taking the valve cover off? and any ideas on that loud click when i rev it a little. could it be the chain not tight enough? ... and i know its not my injectors i know what that sounds like it much louder

how much oil did it leak and were u driving it at the time

it was a huge leak probably all the oil would of been gone if i let it ran for 5 minutes but thats all fixed .... the car only idled for probably 30 seconds at the most whith the leak.

you mite have thrown a rod bearing....mine sound similar to that when it happened to me....my oil line busted and drained most the oil when i was on the highway...if u keep starting the motor, it will seized (hand crank if anything) and the rod will eat into the wall.....try removing the oil pan and see wassup...GL

man...what that noise is, it does not sound good .......Thats the same noise my eclipse made when I messed up the connecting rod.....good luck with everything buddy!!!!!I hope it just turns out to be something stupid, an ease fix.

the noise sounds like it is coming from the head though?? directly on top of the valve cover

Have you checked your timing chain/guide......that sounds way worse then what my timing chain problem was though..
