hey guys, im running a blacktop sr in my car and have recently been hearing an annoying ticking sound only during acceleration but not at idle...my question is, how could i tell if i got a bad gasket or leak somewhere in the exhaust or if i might have detonation? cuz i heard that they could both sound very simular...im thinking that since i only hear the ticking sound when stepping on the gas pedal it might be a bad gasket, am i right? any help or advice is appreciated thanks

I'm not sure but maybe check your turbo bolts?

im not too sure on the gen its from, its the one that doesn't have the curve toward the back of the valve cover. its flat. but yeah the ticking sound goes away when im not pushing on the gas pedal...does this at any speed and is loudest when engine is cold or hasnt been running for more then about 5 minutes. also, i was looking at my exhaust manifold and noticed that one of the studs are missing...maybe this could be causing a leak? could one missing stud on the manifold cause that much noise?

That would be a s13 blacktop. That missing stud most likely is your problem.

Does it bad when its cold perhaps you have a lifter that has leaked down that happened in my first swap after drivn for a year pulled head apart took out lifters and got me a clean bowl of motul oil and a stright o ring pick and built them all back up and put it all back together noise was gone. have u checked timing chain for slack. most likely is a manifold leak at the missn bolt but just wanted to throw a couple suggestions.
