When I started my S13 SR20 the other day, I encountered a large knocking/rattling sound. I found that my #1 injector was loose, and after re-seating the rail and adjusting the top timing chain guide (which was crooked), I'm down to a quieter (but still fairly prominent) tapping/clicking sound, and not so much of a knock.

I have a small dent in the corner of my oil pan, which doesn't seem to be blocking the pickup.

Can anyone give me some insight as to what the sound may be, and maybe how to remedy it?

Thanks

SR have notoriously loud injectors. Stick a long screwdriver to the top of one of the injectors and stick the other end to your ear and see if that noise coincides with the rythmn that your hear. Repeat process on the head and block to see if everything else sounds kosher. This seems to be the easiest way to find the noise. Watch out for belts, pulleys etc...... Hope this helps
