This is my first time posting on this site and im wondering if sombody had an answer or a sudjestion.

Iv gotten together with my mechanic a couple times who i trust iv also taken my 1999 pathfinder to a nissan dealership to try and track down what the couse of a ticking sound at idle is now right away when the nissan mechanic heard it he said its your lifters and that was it then the matenace guy proceeded to write me up a thousand dollar quote which was nice.

On the other hand my mechanic after going over the motor with a stethescope seems to think the sound is coming from a belt on the right hand side of the engine the ac belt ps belt and alt belt have been changed so i was wondering is anyone had had a similar problem we were thinking ac pump or water pump or any of the belts involved

the pathfinder has 133 000 km on it and a better description of the sound would be a light thud to a tick constand less noticible when the vehicle is warm but still there

any help is apreciated

My AC compressor has been a loud ticker for over 2 years now, no problems.

To test your theory, press the ECON or OFF button on your climate control (or twist knob to OFF if you have the mechanical one) and see if the noise goes away

I know this is old as hell but did you ever figure out the problem? I don twant to replace the lifters and have the issue remain.
